I was working down in Lincolnshire again. A nice bonus was having a flock of 8 Bewicks Swan fly through, the first I've seen in a while. They are a rare winter visitor where most of my birding takes place in Fife and the last time I saw some there was in 2012.
I also happened to be in the vicinity of Gretna Services on the M74 at the right time of day to see the spectacular pre roost murmurations of Starlings that the site is well known for.

Just a record shot of the Bewicks but in actual fact there are some ID clues here; relatively short necked for a swan and rather bulbous head, stubby bill profile. |
