Last weekend..
A first winter Black Guillemot showing well off Inverkeithing in the outer bay.


Given there has been a good looking candidate for the high Arctic form mandtii in Lincs lately I gave this bird a close look. The heavily marked head, mantle and lack of white in the primary coverts on the upper wing rule that out but this is always a good bird to see in Fife with typically only a handful of records a year.
