Well we didn't get near the record day count of Tree Pipits this weekend but two very respectable counts on Friday (85) and Sat (105).
Sat was a good day for variety with a Juv Med Gull a long overdue Ferry Hills tick. Another good record was a Red Kite seen by Clive Mckay after I left, still a scarce bird in Fife but the third for FH. The first Meadow Pipit passage saw 69 on Friday but then a typical rapid increase for this species with 275 on Sat. Other sightings of interest included juvenile dispersal of kestrel with four different birds across to Lothian and a small number of White Wagtail passing low/close enough to be identified. Late August/early Sept is a good time for Icelandic birds to be passing through and no doubt some of the other unidentified alba wagtails seen this weekend were Whites. The first Bonxies of the autumn were seen heading high inland with six on Friday and one on Sat.
Sunday was less suitable for Vis mig with light rain and I packed in early at FH. A late morning seawatch at Kinghorn was more productive with Adult and Juv Roseate Tern showing well on and off for most of the watch, 1 Pom Skua and small numbers of Arctic Skua and Bonxie.
