Its been about visible migration at Ferry Hills.

Managed to get in a few hours on Tuesday August 28th when the best count of Tree Pipit of the autumn was achieved with 146. Meadow Pipits had a big day for August with 427 and a total of 18 Grey Wagtail was the peak count so far this autumn. A Black-throated Diver flew inland.

This weekend (Sept 1st,2nd) saw good variety with notable counts including 80 Tree Pipit, 311 Meadow Pipit and 59 Siskin. Less common species for FH included 2 Turnstone high west up the Forth (surprisingly the first site record), a Yellow Wagtail and a Spotted Flycatcher. Small numbers of Great and Arctic Skuas headed inland. Migrating wildfowl included Wigeon, Teal and Pintail heading up the Forth.

FH is a good place to practice in flight duck ID-wigeon and teal above. Pintail and Wigeon below.

Arctic Skua and Bonxie heading inland.

White Wagtail passing through, even with the poor light and poor photo the clean flanks and pale mantle are visible.
A long awaited Butterfly first for the garden on Friday 31st with two superb Painted Lady on the buddliea
